Easy To Lose

Rate this book
Easy To Lose is a stand-alone novel set in Kristen Proby's Boudreaux Universe.

Leaving New York after my now ex-fiancé cheated on me was easy.
Moving back home to Miami to run Charly Boudreaux’s Head Over Heels expansion store, even as it scares the hell out of me…also easy.
Finding out that Owen Peters, my ex-best friend and the boy I fell in love with in high school, the one who broke my heart, works next door? Not quite so easy.

Hearing that Morgan Lawson is finally coming home makes me ecstatic. It provides me with a second chance—something I waited ten years to grasp.
Watching her struggle to accept the body she was born with, the one that makes me crazy with desire, allows me to show her exactly how beautiful she is, both inside and out—and how much she means to me.
Letting her go the first time was a huge mistake, and I refuse to go down that road again. Because not realizing how easy she was to lose, or how not having her in my life makes me feel incomplete, is something I never want to experience again.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for a review.

This novel was perfection. I could connect to the female protagonist because of my own..issues as well. The male protagonist was fun too, so supportive and there for his girl.

This novel covered issues like body positivity, relationships, who you are and many more.

The writing was brilliant, I loved every page I read, the chemistry was brilliant, the characters were wonderful, and I loved being in their world.

I hope I read more of this author's work.

Until the next read,

This is my first read by the author and it did not disappoint. I find it refreshing that Morgan is on the curvy side, you don't get that all the time. I find it easy to read. Morgan and Owen is an easy couple, in my opinion, they have great chemistry. I loved Morgan's friendship with Charly.

This is a romantic and wonderful read.

Sweet, funny and quite sexy ‘Easy to Lose’ is one great example of second-chance romance that will most definitely take the readers on a real roller coaster of emotions.

Morgan and Owen- best friends in the past, separated by one unfortunate event and brought back together after twelve years. Many things have changed since the last time they saw each other, but one thing remains the same – that attraction that simply cannot be denied. She- funny and sassy, a bit insecure about her own appearance. He- one hell of a charmer. Sexy and swoon-worthy. And they together- a total deliciousness. But will they finally acknowledge how perfect are they for each other? Can they overcome the obstacles and embrace that tender emotion?

First time I read something by this author, and I am delighted by the way this author uses her gift to enable the readers to feel every single emotion that overwhelms the characters. It is really emotional story with sizzling chemistry and real, relatable characters. Morgan is a perfect example of an ordinary girl from our neighborhood, with real self-esteem issues and problems. Owen on the other hand is absolutely refreshing and delightful, every girl’s dream. The secondary characters are perfectly presented and blended into the whole story and truly complement the story. I have to add that some parts are a bit predictable, others a bit disruptive and definitely I would enjoy more angst, but those thing haven't made the read less enjoyable.

Overall, it is a sweet and steamy read, a perfect blend of drama and emotions to keep readers engaged until the very end. If you’re looking for a perfect getaway into the world of fiction, then you should definitely consider this book.

Owen and Morgan were best friends for a long time. Morgan has just come back to town after breaking up with her ex. She always had a crush on her best friend Owen. Now she's a hot mess but Owen couldn't be hotter. Owen has always regretted letting Morgan get away and now he refuses to lose her again. A good contemporary, second chance read.

Once burned . . .

It seems there’s no escaping Ex-boyfriends for Morgan Lawson. She leaves one Ex behind in New York only to find another Ex lurking around the edges of the new life she’s building far away in Miami.

I enjoyed this story for the familiar chords it strikes: brutal betrayal, life-long friendship, self-doubt, and bone-deep love. S.A. Clayton has created in Morgan Lawson a character I rarely read about – one who bears the scars of a lifelong struggle to accept their body just the way it is.

The author pushes all the right buttons, turns up the heat, and lets the sparks fly. A fun read.

A sweet & touching second chance romance

I have loved all of S.A. Clayton's novels, and EASY TO LOSE is no different. This was a second chance story that was so sweet, with two characters that I couldn't help falling in love with.

Morgan Lawson and Owen Peters had been best friends since they were twelve years old. After a heartbreaking incident they have not seen each other for ten years. Morgan has returned home to Miami after her life in New York was turned upside down. Back in Miami she has been hired to setup and manage a new store owned by her best friend Charly. The last person she wants to run into is Owen, but fate has other plans.

"Who did I piss of in the universe for Owen Peters to be standing right in front of me, looking like a tall glass of water, when I look like a hot mess."

I adored the friendship/relationship between Morgan and Owen. Morgan was extremely self-conscious about her appearance, even though is beautiful and sassy she always thinks she's just not good enough for anyone. Owen is a charmer. He owns his own business and still wants Morgan as much as he did ten years ago. He's sweet, protective and will do anything to enable Morgan to see herself the way in which he does. Together their chemistry was off the charts, yet they were also able to share some sweet, tender and loving moments.

Morgan there is nothing wrong with you. You are perfect."

Ms Clayton never fails with her stories. She enables her readers to feel everything her characters do. This is an emotional read, considering the way Morgan sees herself, but it is also fun and light-hearted, with a touch of drama added to keep some tension involved.

Another beautiful and engaging story from Ms Clayton.

Not only an excellent addition to the Boudreaux Universe Novel books but a beautiful romance of the heartache of lost first loves wrapped in the insecurities when your body shape is not a size 2

S A Clayton has produced such a marvellous thought provoking story that in some places brought tears to my eyes. I loved Morgan maybe because I could in some part relate to her and then struggle when you don't reflect the size that society has you believe you should be. Looking in mirrors and shop windows always feeling different takes some getting over. Especially when you come home and find your fiance with someone else and using your weight as the exercise!

Fleeing back to her home town Morgan was not expecting to come face to face with the other man she had only loved but left her devastated when he failed to take her to the prom or answering her calls all those year's ago. Seeing the handsome Owen now a gym owner looking as handsome as ever only adds to Morgans in-securities and add in Owen's soon to be ex stick thin girlfriend the feelings of not being good enough come crushing back.

Owen can't believe that the only girl he ever loved is back in town how can he explain what happened all those years ago, how can he prove to this beautiful woman standing in front of him that she is everything he had ever wanted.

Well done S A Clayton for writing such a great book.

I truly believe that there isn't a girl in the world who hasn't had some sort of body issues, even if they have the perfect body. Those with said perfect bodies do seem to need the constant attention for whatever reason, and these days social media can provide it for them. Anyway, Morgan is a curvy girl who really suffers with insecurities, as there are some deep scars from high school, and all the newest wounds are only piling on, which can make her a flight risk. See, she always had a thing for her best friend Owen, but he really hurt her in high school, so she hasn't talked to him since. Now, she's on her way home for her job, and so she has no choice but to finally come face to face with Owen again, especially since he works next door to her. Owen has always believed Morgan was the one who got away, and I wasn't a fan of his. It's not just because of what he did in high school, but what he's doing in the present as well left me with a bad taste in my mouth. However, Ms. Clayton has a gift when it comes to her stories, and even if I don't love the hero, I still warm up to them at some point. Will Morgan take another chance on Owen?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Summer is coming to an end but don’t worry about the cool weather, Easy to Lose by SA Clayton has just been released. This book is a sweet second chance romance that will warm you to the core. Clayton has brought to life characters that we can relate to and sympathize with. I loved Morgan’s courage and her no-nonsense attitude. Owen isn’t the typical jock, which is refreshing, he actually has a heart of gold (no offense to all the jocks out there). He knows what he wants and isn’t afraid or ashamed to go for it. So overall I would have to say that I LOVED this story. It is a great book with all the feels. 5-stars for Easy to Lose by SA Clayton.
Morgan Lawson had to come home. NYC wasn’t what she needed in her life. When a chance of a lifetime presented itself, Morgan jumped in with both feet. Owen Peters hasn’t seen Morgan in ten years, but she was never far from his mind. With Morgan and Owen working so close together she can’t deny how she felt about him or how he hurt her. Owen has never stopped wanting Morgan, but he knows that he must prove himself to her. Morgan was to Easy to Lose in high school and Owen can’t have that happen again.

This was a sweet second chance romance. It moves a bit fast but it makes sense they already knew each other previously. Morgan was hurt on her birthday and prom night back in hs by Owen. She didn't why he did what he did but she shed a lot of tears over him. Fast forward, she just got her heart broke again and is vulnerable. Fate steps in and puts Owen back into her life. This is where I have an issue..he has a gf, who is all about her image and building her IG with pics from his gym. She's self absorbed for sure. Despite all that, he breaks up with her and not even two days later he's pushing things with Morgan. I mean in a way she has a reason to be hurt. She still shouldn't have said what she did and about Morgan. You see Morgan is a curvier woman and guys have a hard time staying with her because. She has her insecurities, which is to be expected, and can't believe someone like Owen would want or love her. He owns a gym and is built. He is sweet but he makes mistakes. He has the best interest at heart but he needs to communicate better. These two are adorable together and I love the way he treats her. I love having Simon and Charly in it as well. Great book!

4 star review Easy To Lose by S.A. Clayton

Easy To Lose is set in Kristen Proby's Boudreaux Universe. I love all these collections as I continue to find new to me authors.

This is a second chance at love story. After she discovers he ex-fiance has cheated on her Morgan Lawson returns home to Miami. She is shocked to learn that her ex best friend and first love Owen Peters works next door.

Owen is thrilled to learn she has returned, after all she is the one who got away and he is determined to win her back. Having been hurt by Owen in the past, she is wary, Morgan is vulnerable, she has insecurities thanks to her curvy body and cannot believe that gym owner Owen could be interested in her.

This was a sweet, romantic. at times emotional love story and I really liked Owen and Morgan both separately and together. The way he treats Morgan was heart warming. Can Owen convince Morgan to take another chance with him? One click and find out.

great story

Loved the story. I feel like a lot of women and girls feel like Morgan and it’s due to societal forced notions and horrible people like Bailey who think they are better than others because of their looks. I loved Owen. He was genuine and he loved Morgan. Despite minor mistakes. His one and only priority was Morgan and protecting her. He always came from the right place despite maybe hurting her feelings. I feel like yes he missed her birthday but she slightly overreacted because of past baggage with Aaron and that’s not fair to punish Owen because of it. When all he was trying to do was protect her. Yes he probably should have told her and dealt with it together but his first thought was to make sure she wasn’t put into a bad situation and hurt more than she had been previously. Not knowing he was playing into baileys plan. But I liked the story. Now trying to find if Allie and Ben have a book already.

Morgan has the world at her feet. A Fiance, the job she always wanted and she is living in NYC. But her world comes crashing down when she catches her fiance in flagrante delicto in their home!

Fast forward a few months and she is back home in Miami and taking on the management of a new store on behalf of her friend. She did not expect to meet her childhood best friend/unrequited crush/ bringer of nightmares to run the gum next door to her new business!

Owen should be arrogant, air-headed, and a total jock. What we get is business savvy, college-educated business owner who uses his interest in fitness to establish a viable business. But his taste is women -that man needs an overhaul!

I'm always a sucker for girl/boy-next-door and 2nd chance romances. Owen definitely needs to plead for Morgan's forgiveness. Her poor self-esteem certainly took a nose dive due to his abandoning her at prom. It will take more than pretty words to heal that chasm of pain and self-doubt. Morgan and Owen have sizzling chemistry even when trying to avoid each other.

I haven't read the first book but that in no way hindered my enjoyment of this one. Great read.

Owen and Morgan were best friends since children, until he broke her heart. Having been away from her hometown for 10-years Morgan is coming home after catching her cheating ex-fiancé, and she has been hired to set up and manage a store for her best friends Charly. Only problem is Owen works next door, and he is pleased that Morgan is home and is hoping to convince her to give him a 2nd chance. Morgan had felt her whole life that she is never good enough, and she is self-conscious and with self-esteem issues, but Owen is determined to make her see herself through his eyes as to how beautiful she is is. This a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster throughout, as well as being a fun, sweet, and a light-hearted poignant love story which just a tad drama. I was hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.

Oh my gosh, this book. I had tears as I read how Madison felt about herself and that words do truly cut like a knife. This woman had thought she had everything, only to walk in on her fiancé cheating. Going home and not realizing that the one person she had hoped to avoid after he had hurt in high school would be the person she would run into reminded Madison that life wasn't always fair. Owen has missed his best friend from high school every single day since he had to break her heart. He had reason for what he did, but there was nothing to prepare him for just how much it hurt to have her walk away. Once he finds out how damaged she feels about her appearance he just wants to help her. As the two of them reconnect, the past comes back to make things just as difficult. This time though, has Owen learned enough to not make the mistake?

Easy To Lose was such a romantic, steamy and wonderful read.

The story was very inspirational and was very personal to me. I related to Morgan and I felt very connected to her. I wanted to hug her and encourage her to be strong. I just adored her.

I loved the relationship between Owen and Morgan. Even with a few bumps along the road, I loved how caring and loving and supportive Owen was to Morgan and the chemistry was off the charts. Owen did not disappoint, at all!

We also get to see Charly and Simon, and that is always a bonus.

Easy To Lose is a sweet and steamy read with plenty of drama and love. I loved Owen and Morgan, and the story was addictive and very inspirational.

Highly recommended!

This was such a sweet story despite taking on an issues that a lot of woman struggle with everyday and have a »Bailey« in their lives.
I loved Owen and how he went out of his ways to show her just how much she's special. I could feel his need to make her his and take away all her pain. As for Morgan; it broke my heart when she had her meltdown. I just struck a chord and left a bitter taste in my mouth because it made me realize that I too am feeling all the "ugly" she felt and I cried like a baby and I’m not even ashamed to admit it.

The GREAT lesson of the story – LOVE YOURSELF FIRST so others can love you to!!!

This story is for every girl and woman who has self-esteem issues. Morgan is witty, beautiful, and suffers from body issues. After having her heart broken she returns home only to run into her first crush, best friend, and the first one to break her heart. Owen is absolutely swoon-worthy, even though some of his actions made me want to shake him, his heart is in the right place. Morgan and Owen together are absolute perfection. Their chemistry is off the charts, and their love is inspiring. However, when you throw in insecurities, and a crazy ex, you get an emotional love story that will leave you wanting more.

After the way that Morgan’s engagement ended, she returned to her hometown for a business opportunity and a fresh start. Finding out that she is business neighbors with Owen, her ex-best friend and the man responsible for her leaving town in the first place, was a complication she didn’t need.

Owen regrets how he hurt Morgan but he hopes that she will finally allow him to explain what happened so that they will have their second chance however convincing her he loves her just the way she is may be the biggest challenge of all.

Owen and Morgan have always belonged together, and they just needed to realize that by trusting each other they can overcome anything.

This is the first book I am reading by this author and in the Boudreaux universe novel series and I really enjoyed this book. It’s a second chance romance with all the feels. Morgan catches her fiancé cheating and comes back home and meets her best friend/ bane of her existence/ unrequited love Owen . Owen hasn’t seen Morgan for more than ten years but she wasn’t far from his mind . Owen regrets hurting and letting Morgan go and he is not willing to loose this chance to win Morgan but it might not be easy . I really enjoyed both the characters and the story flow. The story is heartwarming and heartfelt. Can’t wait to read more books by this author

This is such a sweet story of a person who doubts herself and her self-worth. Owen and Morgan were best friends throughout their childhood until he broke her heart. Now 10 years later she comes back to her hometown nursing a broken heart after she catches her ex fiancé cheating on her. Owen knows this is his chance to convince her to give him a second chance, but will she listen to him? This story is an emotional roller coaster from start to finish and you were really pulling for Owen to get the girl. I felt super bad for Morgan and her self-esteem issues and Owen does anything and everything to try to convince her she is beautiful and worth it.

This was a second chance/reunion story for Morgan and Owen. Morgan had her abandonment and weight issues. Owen was confused and sorry for his earlier actions. I loved how hard he worked at making up for his mistakes, even as he made new mistakes. He gave her such confidence in herself, and I enjoyed how she came to realize her own worth. There were some wonderful support characters as well.

I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Enjoyable sweet romance read!

This is my first read In the Boudreaux Universe and it did not disappoint. Owen and Morgan had a history which ended badly, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to win the only girl that he has loved. What happens next is filled with emotions, drama and a delicious heat level. I enjoyed the heart felt storyline and the connection that the characters have for each other that made this newest release a definite must read.

Insecure girl having body issues even after being an adult instead of being happy for urself.. This results in her walking away from situations instead of finding out the real reasons n then having regrets.. She wants her childhood friend to be in love with her but when he admits it with honesty n sincerity, she doesn't believe him n again walks away.. These pathetic high school dramas with no meat in the story r just snoozefests..

“This second chance romance gave me all the feels even though I didn’t expect it. At first I thought I wasn’t gonna like it so much because reading about a female character that isn’t in comfort with her body and pity herself are always so boring and annoying. Morgan wasn’t the exception. I struggled about this because at some point they are unbearable but somehow the plot was catchy enough to have my attention and curiosity to keep reading.”
